My Hedge Fund Changes

August 20th, 2007

After trying for more than a week to purchase the desired amount of stock and options for My Hedge Fund, I’ve decided to restart the competition in order to make a crucial change. I’ve found that $1,000,000 CND and $1,000,000 USD is too difficult to easily (and quickly) manage with Investopedia. There are several reasons large sums of money are a pain to manage on Investopedia such as the diversification and trading rules. You basically end up being forced to make 15 trades just to acquire the same stock in the desired quantity.

Instead of wasting all my time trying to see if the correct number of shares have been bought, I decided it would be easier if the settings were changed to $100,000 CND and $100,000 USD. Now it won’t take me two weeks to purchase one stock in quantity. Besides, the main metric used to determine if the portfolio is successful is the percentage gained compared to the major indexes… not the size of the portfolio. I really think this will make things easier for all that join.
